Shipwreck Studio Pty Ltd (ABN 95 762 680 527), “we”, “us” or “the studio”, operates shipwreckstudio.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect through this website, how we use it, and how to contact us about it. We handle personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
What we collect
Enquiry and application forms. When you use a form on this site we collect what you type: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and the contents of your message. Job applications may also include your city, country, rate and the links you provide to your work.
Form context. With each submission we record the time, the page you submitted from, your IP address, your browser’s user agent, and first-party marketing attribution: the page you first landed on, the site that referred you, and any campaign parameters or advertising click identifiers in that URL. We use this to understand where enquiries come from and to detect spam.
Spam protection. Forms are protected by Google reCAPTCHA v3, which assesses whether a submission is likely to be automated. reCAPTCHA is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Analytics. We use Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. Analytics identifiers are pseudonymous and are not combined with the details you give us in a form unless you later become a client.
Free tools. The tools on this site (Tag Explorer, GTM Checker, Schema Tester, What CMS Is This, SERP Preview, IP Lookup and the Golden Ratio Calculator) process the URL, IP address, text or image you enter in order to return a result. We do not store tool inputs beyond short-lived rate limiting by IP address. Images dropped into the Golden Ratio Calculator are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.
Email. If you email us, we keep the correspondence as part of our business records.
How we use it
- To respond to your enquiry, quote request or job application.
- To deliver and support the services you engage us for.
- To keep a record of enquiries for lead recovery, so a message is never lost to a mail failure.
- To measure and improve the website and our marketing.
- To detect and prevent spam, abuse and security incidents.
We do not sell personal information. We do not send marketing email to people who have only made an enquiry.
Who we share it with
- Service providers that help us run the site: Cloudflare (hosting, security and content delivery), SendGrid (sending form notifications), Google (reCAPTCHA, Tag Manager and Analytics). Each processes data only to provide its service to us.
- Our staff and contractors who need it to respond to you, under confidentiality obligations.
- Where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, property or safety.
Some providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. We choose providers that commit to appropriate protection of personal information.
How we store and protect it
Form submissions are stored in an encrypted database on our hosting platform and emailed to the studio over an authenticated mail service. Access is limited to staff who need it. We keep enquiry records for as long as they are useful for the purpose they were collected, and client records for as long as the law requires.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets a first-party cookie only where a feature needs it (for example, remembering a preference). Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics may set cookies to measure site usage. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work. The reCAPTCHA service may also set cookies on google.com domains.
Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where we have no continuing need or legal obligation to keep it. Email us or use the contact form and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

This site links to other websites, including the tag and platform guides. Their privacy practices are their own; this policy applies only to shipwreckstudio.com.
Changes
We update this policy when our practices change. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
