IP Lookup who is behind it?

Shows the country, city, timezone, network and hosting provider behind an IP address and plots it on a map. Leave the field empty to see your own.

Works with IPv4 and IPv6. The location is the network's registered point of presence, which for Australian ISPs is almost always the capital city, not the visitor's suburb.

How it works

How the IP Lookup works

The address is sent to a geolocation database that maps IP ranges to the organisation that registered them, their country, region and city, the timezone and the registered coordinates. We show the fields that answer real questions: where, which network, which provider. The pin on the map sits at the registered coordinates, converted from latitude and longitude onto an equirectangular world map.

When you leave the field empty we read the address your connection presented to our server, so the result is what any website you visit would see.

IP Lookup questions

How accurate is the location?

It is the registered location of the network block, not the device. For home and mobile connections in Australia that is nearly always the carrier’s hub, which for New South Wales means Sydney even for a visitor in Wollongong. Country and ISP are reliable; suburb-level accuracy is not something any IP lookup can give you.

Why is my own IP shown when I did not enter one?

Leaving the field empty looks up the address your connection presented to our server, which is handy for checking what a website sees. Enter any other address to look that one up instead.

What is this tool for?

Form spam forensics mostly. When an enquiry looks wrong, the IP tells you the country, the ISP and whether it is a hosting provider or a residential connection. Our form systems link every lead’s IP straight here.

Can I share a lookup?

Yes. The Share button copies a link with ?ip= in it, and the page runs the lookup as soon as it opens. Our admin screens and alert emails use the same link format.
